Join us as Lisa shares with us her experience on how to think outside the box. She’ll share top tips for breaking down complex issues, how to stand out among your peers as a leader, and negotiating your way to “Yes.”
Lisa Unger began her career in insurance in 1990 working for Chubb & Son, Inc., in New York City. She was responsible for handling various types of general liability claims including Labor Law, Products Liability, Premises Liability, Bodily Injury, Property Damage, Advertising Injury and Personal. She joined AIGTS as a Complex Director in 1996, responsible for handling excess construction defect cases, most of which were located on the West Coast. In 1998, Lisa moved to California and was a Claims Supervisor for Zurich N.A. handling construction defect primary and excess claims in California, Nevada, Colorado and Texas as well as handling complex general liability claims. In 2002, Lisa joined Markel as a Senior Claims Examiner handling construction defect claims as well as high exposure general liability excess/umbrella and environmental claims and coverage cases nationwide. Lisa is currently part of the Global Management Liability Team handling a wide array claims involving Employment Practices and Third Party Discrimination Liability and Fiduciary Liability, Directors and Officers Liability and Tenant Discrimination. Lisa also works on specialty projects, serves as a company representative/mediation specialist for court ordered settlement conferences and mediations and is part of Markel’s Global Reinsurance Audit team. Lisa is a graduate of Colgate University where she was a double major in English and Fine Arts. Lisa currently serves as the President of the Los Angeles Chapter of The CLM, is the Chair of the CLM ADR Committee, Co-Chair of the EPL Committees, was the Treasurer of the Construction Defect Charitable Community Foundation (“CDCCF”) and remains involved with many charitable organizations, including March of Dimes, Alzheimer’s Association, The Children’s Hospital, House of Hope and Stay Free Ministries.
