Ethics In Claims Handling (CE/CLE)

This course will provide attendees with ethical principles required to be successful in claims handling. Developed for insurance claim and legal professionals in mind, our presenters- an attorney with experience representing insurance companies and a licensed professional engineer/expert who has provided expert witness and litigation support on litigated matters. Together they define ethics and discuss the key ethical principles that every claims adjuster and litigation professional needs to know. Strategies for making good decisions when handling claims will be provided, and through the use of real life case studies we will illustrate best practices for successful and ethical claims resolutions.
About the Speakers:
Terence Kadlec is Envista’s Practice Leader of the Construction and Construction Defect Group. His expertise focuses on claims and litigation, and works to help educate clients and industry professionals alike. Terence is a design engineer with a forensic engineering background, performing investigations following fires, explosions, vehicular impacts, weather/catastrophe events, building envelope deficiencies, structural failures, and civil/earthwork failures. He evaluates alleged deficiencies in civil and structural engineering matters, and has provided testimony through sworn affidavits, deposition, and trial as an expert witness.
Jason Klein is the managing partner of WSHB’s Denver office and a partner in the Firm’s Florida offices. Jason is an experienced trial lawyer whose practice is dedicated to complex civil litigation. In addition, Jason assists their national insurance coverage practice by advising and representing domestic and international insurers on first-party property (Homeowner’s and Commercial), commercial general liability, construction defect, and professional errors and omission claims. Prior to that Jason was in-house counsel in Resort Management for Wyndham Vacation Ownership, Inc. He is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected for inclusion into Florida Trend’s “Florida Legal Elite.”
