How did Builders’ culture shape your experience as an intern?

“The biggest impact on my internship experience was experiencing Builders’ culture firsthand. Everyone I interacted with was genuinely friendly, supportive, and approachable. Regardless of role or seniority, employees were always willing to answer questions and offer guidance. What is one skill you strengthened during your internship, and how will you use it in your career?

“The most important skill I strengthened was my ability to connect technical solutions with business needs. Through conversations with employees across Data, Finance, Sales, Claims, Underwriting, Loss Control, and other departments, I learned how to ask better questions, understand the purpose behind a request, and communicate technical concepts in a way that creates value for different audiences.” – Siri Yellu, Data Analytics Intern

What internship experience had the greatest impact on you, and why?

“Our visit to the Shepherd Center, a nationally recognized brain injury rehabilitation leader, was an incredibly impactful part of this internship. It provided real context about the people that insurers work to support and make whole. A key difference at Builders is that we prioritize the people behind the policy instead of just the numbers. I believe that it is incredibly important to remember the human relationships behind business, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how professionals can have a positive impact.” – Trevor Hall, Sales Operations Intern

How did your internship help you better understand the career opportunities available in insurance?

“As a Risk Management major, getting to speak with agency leaders and learn about career opportunities within an agency was one of the highlights of my internship. Everyone at Builders and our agency partners was incredibly generous with their time, sharing professional insights and career advice that I’ll carry with me.” – Nolan Lassiter, Underwriting Intern

Learn from leaders and mentors. Meet one-on-one with the CEO and Chief Officers, connect with leaders across the business, and have a dedicated peer mentor who provides guidance and career advice throughout the internship.

Make an impact. Work on meaningful business projects, collaborate across departments, and present ideas directly to senior executives. Some intern recommendations have even been implemented, giving interns the opportunity to see their ideas make a lasting difference.
